Since time began, stone has been recognised as the most important and versatile material known to man. We offer a carefully selected range of high quality materials, in a wide range of sizes and finishes. All projects are preceded by a site-survey to assess the practicalities of fitting stone.

Did you know…..

Limestone: A sedimentary rock, made up of layers of calcium carbonate formed from the accumulation of organic matter in shallow seas, which is then turned to stone by millions of years of pressure.

Travertine : Another sedimentary rock, made up of layers of calcite formed from the accumulation of organic matter in hot springs and spa areas. It is a very strong stone which has a natural honeycombe structure, which when cut, exposes small holes on the surface. These can be left unfilled, or filled and honed.

Marble : Is a Metamorphic rock and started life as a limestone, which is then crystallised by immense heat and pressure.

Granite : Is an igneous rock, which means that it has been formed from liquid magma deep under the earth's crust, which has slowly cooked over a long period of time.

Slate: Is metamorphosed shale. Shale is made up of silt and clay which have been melted together over the years to form slate. Shale is the most abundant of all sedimentary rock.

Sandstone : Is composed essentially of grains of sand and has a granular texture. In addition to quartz, sandstone may consist of sand sized particles of calcite, gypsum or various iron compounds.
